Ford EcoSport, a new generation SUV, was originally manufactured by Ford do Brazil, a subsidiary of Ford Company at Camacari, Brazil since 2003. The new model (second generation) EcoSport was showcased at the Delhi auto expo in the year 2012 and was proposed to be assembled at Chennai, India, Vietnam and Russia.
Ford EcoSport is a mini Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) whose price ranges from Rupees 675000/- to 1020000/-. The car is available in attractive colors of mars red, diamond white, kinetic blue, moondust silver, chill metallic, panther black and sea grey.
Ecosport SUV comes with three different engine options. The first is 1.0 litre, three cylinder turbocharged Ecoboost petrol engine, which has a power output of 120 PS (88 KW; 118bhp), and 170 N.m (125 lb ft) of torque featuring Ti-VCT (Twin independent Variable Camshaft Timing), which contributes to the turbocharged engine’s peak torque starting at 1,300 rpm. The second is 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine, which gives an output of 108 bhp (109.5 PS, 80.5 KW) and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) and the third being 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine that gives an output of 90 bhp (67 KW, 91 PS) power and 204 Nm (150 lb-ft) of torque at 2000-2750 rpm. It can tow up t0 700 kg of weight. The Ecoboost engines give a mileage of 18.9 kmpl, the petrol engine gives a mileage of 15.8 kmpl and the diesel engine gives a mileage of 22.7 kmpl. The engines are fixed with five–speed manual and six–speed dual clutch transmission.
The external features like octagonal frame, mounted bumper sweeping towards headlights, ORVMs with integrated blinkers, muscular crease over the bonnet and prominent wheel arches, enhances the aggressive look of the car. The overall dimensions are 3999 mm in length and 1765 mm in height. Ground clearance is 200 mm. The interior features are similar to the Fiesta. The new dashboard, along with slightly modified instrument console, stereo system controls and climate control unit offers a distinctive feel. The high-mounted seating arrangement provides good visibility. Inlet and outlet is easy. There is sufficient legroom and headroom near the front and rear seats. It is a spacious vehicle to accommodate five persons. This SUV comes with a good braking system and safety measures.
